La Boit Specialty Vehicles

It all started in a garage, over 30 years ago with a man & a vision. Gil Blais, President and Founder of La Boit Inc. Specialty Vehicles, worked for a pharmaceutical company for many years and was continuously approached by veterinarians to create a product they desperately needed… storage for...

Yeah… it’s rude, crude, and perhaps even qualifies as socially unacceptable. But it’s still funny as hell.

Quite possibly the funniest thing I’ve seen all month.
…of course, that may be due to the fact I am a font geek.

Stealth Humping

By now you’ve surely heard of Stealth Discoing, but what if Stealth Discoing met Grassroots Social Commentary and had a baby website?

I think it would look something like IHumpedYourHummer.com.

The website doesn’t take itself too seriously, as witnessed by this quote from their ABOUT page:

The act of humping a Hummer and videotaping it can be interpreted in a variety of ways — it can be seen as a political statement, a piece of performance art, an opportunity to satisfy a roaring libido, or as an amusing activity to engage in as you’re walking down the street.

Whatever your take on the concept, TheBigLink finds it pretty damn funny.

Think Different (But Not TOO Different.)

In a brilliant act of confronting Apple with its own words (and then making them eat those words) a YouTube user with the screen name “KeeptheiPhoneFree” created a video mashup of all the third-party iPhone software that was effectively rendered useless when Apple released the firmware update 1.1.1.

The real act of brilliance was in using the audio from Apple’s groundbreaking “Think Different” campaign. Listen to the narrator (who I think is Richard Dreyfuss) call out Apple’s salute to “the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently.” According to Apple’s script they have no respect for the status quo — yet that’s just what Apple is trying to maintain by fighting the iPhone hack that allows for greater user ability by these self same “Crazy Ones.”

So, according to Apple it is okay to Think Different — just don’t think TOO different from them.

Furby Says “Cool!”

FurbySays.com is another ‘weekend website’ project from the mind of Don The Idea Guy. “Sometimes inspiration hits me just as I am waking up on Saturday morning, and I just ‘need’ to build a website — usually something strange and quirky — before it’s time to head back into the office on Monday” Don says.

Quirky is as good a word as any to describe FurbySays.com. It’s a simple one-page website that allows you to literally put words in the fuzzy Mattel talking-toy’s mouth. For as little as a buck, your words can fill the word balloon above Furby’s head for up to 7-days.

Furby was a toy from the late 80s or early 90s that looked like one of those creatures from the movie Gremlins. Furbies spoke their own electronic language of gurgles and giggles, and were actually supposed to develop their conversation skills through interaction with their owners. Who knows if it was true or not — they were cute, and one of the hottest toys of the time.

FurbySays.com is a pert retro and part viral. A little bit of flashback and a little bit ‘Million Dollar Website,’ I can definitely see FurbySay.com really taking off if DTIG would put in the time to develop it a bit more. The first thing I’d do? Apply the concept to a social widget. Getting FurbySays added to FaceBook or MySpace would be HUGE, but even if he never does another thing to it — it’s a lighthearted, fun, (and potentially profitable) Big Link on the web.
